The Mortality Exchange

The blank stare of that wrinkled face,
criss-crossed with experience and age, was enough to make you feel
uncomfortable, to feel the horror of that face would make you wish
that you'd never ever met her.

The rain splattered the window, the little child peeked from inside.
His huge eyes poured droplets of anguish and pain. Why do they have to
fight? Why do they have to fight ?

She stood in the rain and stared.

Her head bowed, her eyes gazed into the past. A little girl, tender
hands. Terror, screams and gone. She wakes up, crinkly hands, a dribbly mouth, a tipsy her. The world revolves and away she goes.

He is wide awake. The screech of the owl. Her scream raises his hair.
He cries himself to sleep and the world dies away.

He walks to the huge, dark forest. Silence calls him. He stops and
stares into those eyes which beckoned him. She understands , yes, she
does. Save me! Save me! Save me!
He walks, she walks. A single whisk of her finger...no pain,no fear. He
is at peace, she is at peace .

She is alert, awake and aware. Young, strong, hairy hands and
well-built muscles. I am back, I am back.
He comes back. The dilapidated body and aching muscles. What happened,
what happened ?

She walks to his home. The several hours of observation paid off. She
is he. He is she. Another bang, another yell. Poor boy, she wonders.
Slap, sob and sigh. Very messy.

He wonders. He wanders. What to do, what to do? His misery, his
plight. Her luck, huge delight. Life continues to drift.

Let them fight. Let them fight for the very last time, she chuckles.
Her chuckle is a cause of concern. Sharp blade and blood. He falls,
she falls. The fight ends. She continues to laugh.

Meanwhile, he jumps. Jumps to the bottomless pit. No relief. Death
eludes him. Wait my child, wait. Wait for eternity, she chuckles.
